Training
Anyone who wants to train with us must first be a member. You’ll be able to book your training through our membership site.
All training must be booked in advance and bookings close 48 hours ahead. Our pricing is based on self service. If you miss this deadline and need admin support to book, there is a £5 admin fee regardless of your training package.
Please note, any special events like training camps or night swims are priced individually.
We ask every swimmer to complete an annual disclaimer and swim information form each season.
Whilst we have a simplified session structure - one price structure for soloists or relay swimmers, the way training operates depends on what you are training for.
Relay Training
Typically this for people who are training for a channel relay.
The time in the water increases as the water temperature increases. Most people have two swims per session.
Relay swimmers wear YELLOW swim hats.
Solo Training
Typically this for people who are training for solo events where feeding is required.
The time in the water increases as the water temperature increases. At the beginning of the season we tend to do two swims per session. Feeds are included.
Solo swimmers wear RED swim hats
Pricing
Standard training session (solo or relay) £12
’On Tour’ training session £12
Night swim (late start) £15
Night swim (early start) £20
Plus membership of £20
Late booking fee £5
If you only train to alleviate the symptoms of a medical condition (i.e. you are swimming as part of a medical referral, please get in touch to discuss your options).
Optional Extras
As well as membership, training and one to one support, there will be a few optional extras for you to choose from should you want them.
Intensity Week
A week of intensive training delivered in a distinctive DCT way. Expect to get a mid season boost to your training, and to have a little bit of fun (the DCT magic)!
For those of you who enjoy the overseas training camps before the season starts, I would still encourage you to do these. They are a great way to kick start your open water season, get your qualifying swim and gain confidence. These intensive training weeks will compliment any overseas training camps.

Night swims
We’ve been running night swims now for six years and each year we improve how the operate. We offer two night swim opportunities per season. One is a late start and runs for an hour, the other is a very early start and runs for the length of a normal training session.
During the hours of darkness there will be additional safety measures in place that you’ll need to comply with. This includes a reduced swim zone, a defined circuit, lights on key buoys and the need to report your number in on each circuit. You will need to wear two green adventure lights.
No new swimmers will be allowed on these sessions as we can’t safely do assessment swims in the dark.
Watch our for details of when these swims will operate on the Dates & Altered Sessions page.
Price
Late start (max 1 hour starting late at 10pm) £15
Early start (long training swim starting 2.30am) £20
