Please note, we provide training support. We do not offer swimming coaching. It is assumed that you are already a competent, club level swimmer who is competent in open water swimming. If you want suggestions for swimming coaching, please get in touch.

TRAINING TIMES (Weekends)

It is really important that everyone starts together so that we can keep track of how long everyone has been swimming for, when you need feeding etc, etc.  We don’t ask much, we do ask that you are on time.

Training starts at 10am, by that I mean that’s the time that your toes hit the water. Please arrive early to sign-in, get ready and attend the briefing.

We ask that everyone registers in advance. This ensures that we know who to expect and simplifies the signing-in process. You can do that here.

Any changes in sessions will be published on the dates & altered sessions page. If there are any last minute changes due to issues outside of our control (e.g weather), we will contact you via text / email using the details you leave when you book.

There are typically 2-3 sessions each year when the swimming zone in Dover harbour is closed for other events. On these dates we will either switch to a different location or start very early (one of our optional extra night swims) to ensure that we are clear of the water in time.

When we switch location it is typically either to Hythe or Ramsgate.

TRAINING TIMES (NIGHT SWIMS)

A common feature of big swims like the English Channel, is that they can start at any time of the day or night and it’s normal for at least part of the swim to take place during the hours of darkness.

It’s useful to have experience of starting your swim at an unusual time so that you know what to expect on the big day.

We aim to offer one or more night swims (optional extra) each season. Take a look at the Dates and Altered Sessions page to see if we have any planned at this time.

These swims will either start late in the evening or in the very early hours of the morning.

The swim zone will be restricted and additional safety measures are put in place.

They tend to be some of our most popular sessions on the calendar!
