Once a month we’ll be going on tour and visiting another location in Kent for our training.

We have found this to be a particularly useful way to further build your preparedness for your big swim as it gives you the opportunity to experience different conditions.

This is part of the your Core DCT training package.

The location for this swim is going to be Ramsgate.

As this is a new location, which is without the protection of harbour walls, the safety briefing will be different. Attendance at this is mandatory. Please arrive on time (and have earplugs out!) for the safety briefing.

Car Parking

There is car parking on Marine Esplinade in a fee paying car park, or you can park up on the cliff top for free.  If you park on the cliff top you come down the multicoloured steps shown in the third photo above to access the beach.
 

Where we'll meet

Base camp will be right in the middle of the swim zone that we'll use.  Please meet in front of the blue kiosk (see second photo).  We will swim to the harbour wall in one direction and we'll give you a reasonable distance in the other direction.
 

Hazards

This is a normal public beach which has paddlers which will generally be at the end by the main kiosks.  Jet skiers etc are at the very far end of the beach and we will make sure that you don't venture that far.
 

Conditions

Ramsgate will give you the opportunity to check out the channel from a different perspective.  It has tides which are more noticeable than Dover.
